The World Youth 100-payline Rapid Checkers Championship concluded on 3 November in Police, Poland.
Latvian youngsters won five medals in the individual competitions, including one gold, two silver and two bronze.
The world champion in the U19 age group for juniors was Vsevolod Mitrevich, who scored 14 points and received gold medals.
Varvara Ivanova is World Vice-Champion in the U10 age group for girls with 15 points. The second place and silver medal in the U13 age group for girls with 14 points went to Malvīne Misāne.
Bronze medals were awarded to our young checkers players Maksims Novickis, who did it with 13 points in the U10 age group, and Alisa Orlova in the U16 girls’ group, who was able to crown this success with the 13 points she won.
The following day, the World Youth Speed Skating Championships are held. The youngsters won three medals in this discipline – two silver and one bronze, all in the U10 age group.
In the U10 age group for girls, two competitors finished with the same number of points and only due to lower additional scores, the title of World Vice-Champion with 14 points went to Alise Misāne. Luīze Gudēvica Liepiņa won bronze in this group with 13 points. In the U10 age group for boys, Tom Anderson won the world vice-championship with 15 points.
