On 24 March, the Latvian 64-payline draughts championship for students and young people up to 26 years of age took place in Riga. A total of 14 players competed in the championship, playing 7 rounds using the Swiss system.
The U26 age group champion for young women was Alisa Orlova (DAB Salaspils), who won 8 points out of 14 possible. Ineta Gritāne Čakova (Riga Technical University) came second and won the silver medal with 3 points. The bronze medal was also awarded to Lauma Tumašova (Riga Stradiņš University) with 3 points.
The U26 age group champion for youth was Pēteris Kripans (Biedrība “Dambrete”), who won 11 points out of 14 possible. The second place went to Richard Niks Ositis (Dobeles Prāta sporta klubs), who won 10 points. Kristers Lapiņš (Limbaži Regional Sports School) was on the third step of the podium, scoring 9 points.
Ineta Gritāne Čakova (Riga Technical University) won the first place, Lauma Tumašova (Riga Stradiņš University) won the silver medal and Anna Barbale (Latvia University of Agriculture) rounded off the top three
