On 2 December, the Latvian 64-payline checkers team championship, in which 10 teams participated, ended with the victory of the first team of Bauska Prātnieks. Team played against team at four tables and individually played micro stacks after drawing 745 starting options. There were 7 rounds in total, played according to the Swiss system, with a time control of 7 minutes for each micro-match game + 5 seconds extra for each move.
The first team of “Bauskas Prātnieks”, consisting of Reinis Štāls, Mārtiņš Junkurēns, Guntars Purviņš, Regīna Piroņena and Jānis Fārnests, won the competition. It should be noted that “Bauskas Prātnieks” also triumphed two weeks ago in the Latvian Team Championship in 100-field checkers.
The second place went to the “Salaspils” team, which consisted of Raimonds Vipulis, Aldis Krūmiņš, Gunārs Zālītis and Valda Vasariete. For the first time in tournament history, they managed to achieve such a high score.
The second team of “Bauskas Prātnieks” also played masterfully and managed to win the third place. The team consisted of Zigmārs Rumbenieks, Jānis Štāls, Vitālijs Kravcovs, Denijs Vilhelms Krauklis and Everts Rūdolfs Lepsis.
