On Saturday, 21 October, the Latvian Cadet Team Championship in 100 checkers called “Brīnumdambrete” took place at the Radisson Blue Daugava hotel. Such tournaments, between school teams, have been held regularly since the 1960s in 64-hole checkers and in recent years also in 100-hole checkers. The teams, which played against each other on four tables in 8 rounds using the Swiss system, were played by young players up to and including 16 years of age. The first three tables were open to both boys and girls, while the fourth table was for girls only.
The first place went to the team of Checkers Development Association Zolitūde -1, which consisted of Ilya Trasko, Nikita Vorotnikov, Martynas Masanauskas and Milana Fideline. The second place went to the U16 team of the Bauska Regional Children and Youth Sports School, whose success was achieved by Everts Rūdolfs Lepsis, Jurģis Stīpnieks, Roberts Maikūns and Zane Lea Zunda. At the end of the tournament, the third place went to the team of the Checkers Development Society Salaspils – 1, consisting of Valda Vasariete, Aleksandrs Paškovs, Aleksandrs Tabunovs and Alisa Orlova.
The best team in the U8 age group was “Baltais Kauliņš”, represented by Estere Kalēja, Kaspars Kronbergs, Krišjānis Bethers and Velta Urmane. In the U10 age group, the best result went to the team of the Checkers Development Society Ikšķile, which consisted of Toms Andersons, Ernests Andersons, Viktors Saveļjevs and Emīlija Vaišle. Among the U13 age group teams the best result for the tournament winners was for the team of Checkers Development Society Zolitūde -1, where Ilya Trasko, Nikita Vorotnikov, Martynas Masanauskas and Milana Fideline fought
