On 9 March, the Latvian 100-payline checkers championship for students and young people up to 26 years of age took place in Riga. A total of 19 competitors took part in the competition, competing in eight rounds.
The U26 age group champion for young women was Evelīna Orlovska (DAB Salaspils), who won 9 points out of 16 possible. The second place went to Jelizaveta Zaharova (Rīgas Bolderājas Jaunā pamatskola), who won 8 points out of 16 possible. The bronze medal went to Alisa Orlova (DAB Salaspils), who also scored 8 points out of 16 possible.
Reinis Štāls (Bauskas novada bērnu un jaunatnes sporta skola) became the U26 age group champion and won the gold medal, scoring 13 points out of 16 possible. The second place went to Vsevolods Mitrēvičs (Rīgas Bolderājas Jaunā pamatskola), who won 12 points out of 16 possible. The bronze medal went to Klāvs Norenbergs (Limbažu novada sporta skola), who scored 11 points out of 16 possible.
In the student competition the first place went to Kristers Lapins (Limbaži Regional Sports School) with 9 points, and the second place went to Renards Helfrehts (Siguldas sporta skola) with 9 points out of 16 possible points.
